A lot of people are more familiar with Lasik eye surgery as the ultimate procedure in correcting vision problems. This is permissible since it is still the widely used procedure worldwide. The good news is that there have been improvements and developments in this medical procedure. There is actually a new variation and it is known as Wavefront Lasik.

Lasik eye surgery is very popular due to its great results. The healing time for this procedure is fast and it is relatively a painless procedure. However, what most people should know is that this procedure is not a perfect one. This is why Wavefront lasik was developed. This procedure increases the success rate.

What exactly is type Lasik surgery? It is an eye procedure that makes use of a laser to bounce the light off from the eye surface. When the light is bounced back to the machine, it creates a three dimensional map of one's eye. The mapping is so detailed and precise. It surely shows flaws and irregularities in one's eyes.

One of the advantages of Wavefront Lasik is that it provides the eye surgeon an accurate mapping of one's eyes. In this way, the eye surgeon will see all irregularities that are usually missed in the absence of a three dimensional mapping. Such accuracy will allow the eye surgeon to come up with a personalized vision correction plan. All pertinent information based from the map review will be entered in the computer.

This technology is so modern that information will simply be entered by the eye surgeon in the computer. The computer will do the necessary computations based on the formulas programmed. Such formulas will inform the laser the affected areas for resurfacing. In this manner, there will be an extreme attention to detail and precision.

One must remember that the main difference between the traditional Lasik and Lasek methods from Waverfront Lasik is that the former utilize a metal blade in creating the flap in the cornea. The latter does not require any metal blade. Based on statistics, those who had Wavefront Lasik had clearer and better eye vision as compared to those who had Lasek or Lasik.

It is given that all medical procedures have accompanying risks. The good thing about Wavefront Lasik is that since it is so accurate the eye surgeon can easily detect any abnormalities in the patient's eyes. Any future eye problems can be diagnosed easily. This capability is missing in the old Lasik and Lasek procedure.

Since the technology is very current, it is safe to assume that this procedure almost reduced all forms of complications. The main concern with this method is not the possible complications but the cost of the surgery. The mapping and analyzing of the map can be time consuming and this leads to the billing concerns. New technology is always synonymous to high costs. There is also the aspect of the eye surgeon's royalty fee that the surgeon is required to pay whenever he or she utilizes the Wavefront Lasik machine.

There is so much promise for this new Lasik variant. Since this is a new technology, the past mistakes have been corrected already. It maybe costly at first, but once the demand increases and more machines are manufactured, then its costs will soon be reduced.
